The name Altrohlau came from the Austrian town which was located in present day Stara Role near Karlovy Vary in Czechoslovakia. In 1823 the firm was acquired by August Novotny & Co and after 1836 the factory began to manufacture porcelain. In 1884 the company was sold to Moritz Zdekauer from Prague.
