He proved successful and went into partnership with his son Edwin, then becoming John Round & Son. In 1874 the firm became John Round & Son Ltd. and in 1875 used the trade mark of a globe under the name Edwin Round & Son. In 1886 the firm began to use a four trident as its trade mark.
