It was released on Feb. 12, 1990 and was certified 5x Multi Platinum on Aug. 30, 1990 for five million copies sold. The album went to #1 and stayed there for 21 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, mainly based on the strength of the single "U Can't Touch This". It also went to #8 on the UK chart.
