Fuel Quantity Indicator, Four Tanks, C-47 Skytrain, Dakota, WWII F9F CougarHere is a Fuel Quantity Indicator as used in the WWII era Douglas C 47 Skytrain (aka Dakota in the RAF), which appeared on the right side of the instrument panel (see photo from the WWII C 47 Pilot Training Manual showing its location). The C 47 had 4 primary fuel tanks: Left Main, Right Main, Left Auxiliary, Right Auxiliary. The main tanks had a capacity of 202 gallons each, and the auxiliary tanks, 200 gallons, per the manual.
